Busy May!

The Amara has been humming in May adding nearly 2 million stitches as 20 or so quilts went under the needle including 6 for Quilts of Valor - I have been privileged to quilt around 70 so far to show the nations thanks and appreciation for all those touched by war. At Paducah AQS Quilt Week I got to see the “wrapping” award ceremony for several worthy recipients including a World War II veteran who was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. The most inspiring portion of the ceremony was when a previous awardee asked for a replacement quilt as the one he had been presented several years ago had provided him so much comfort that he had worn it out! There are very few ways that Americans like us can engage with those in military or adjunct environments to show them how much we appreciate their service and sacrifices.

Please check out the Gallery - lots of updates as I have kept my hubby-webmaster busy. I am particularly excited to show a Shower Curtain Quilt based on a music-themed shower curtain - lots of fun to make (LOVE the negative space) and very functional as it is a great beach blanket and the sand just shakes right off of it - you saw one pic to enter the blog post but lots more in the Gallery.
